From
the Rider's Seat
By Roy Hooper
We are now meeting at the Carl's Jr. at 1745
S. Victoria Ave, Ventura, in the
K Mart shopping center so make sure you steer your MC in
that direction on the next Club ride you attend. At Jack's the gardener
with his leaf blower was just making too much noise so we will give
Carl's a try.
OVERNIGHTERS
We have 2 overnighters planned this year and if you are thinking about
going it is a good idea to book your rooms now since you can always
cancel later. The first one is the Feast Of Lanterns in Pacific
Grove on July 28,29,30. We are staying at
Lover's Point Inn
625 Ocean View Boulevard
Pacific Grove
(866) 465-8192
and rates our about $109/night and we will be right on the beach.
THESE ROOMS WILL GO FAST. This motel is 2 blocks from
downtown and 1 mile form Cannery Row- a relaxing walk. Book your
rooms for July 28 and 29.
Our other overnighter is the 17th Annual Stater Bros. Route 66
Rendezvous in San Bernardino on Sept. 15-16. Book
your WigWam for Saturday night at
WigWam Motel
2728 W. Foothill Blvd.
Rialto, CA 92376-5333
(909) 875-3005
Visit our web site to get more detailed info on these rides and once you book your room for either of these rides please email me at so I can add your name to our list.
THEN CAME BRONSON
I found two gems on YouTube.com and would like to share them with you. Check out the "Then Came Bronson" opening video and view this strange episode
of him getting into all kinds of accidents. I remember watching
this series as a little kid and dreamed that one day I would be
cruising these little towns like Bronson. Fortunately I have been able
to do just that since 1980 and what a blast it is! View info on Bronson.
I just bought the "Then Came Bronson" tv series on dvd for $29 and highly recommend it for the Bronson fan.
FREE
LUNCH.
For our Members, here is
your chance to win a FREE lunch on any Club ride
you attend by being the first with the correct answer
to this question. You can win once a year so everyone is eligible again except John Duffant who won last month.
You are riding your MC when you see an 8 feet long 4" by 4" piece of wood that is laying across the road and you don't have time or room to swerve. What does the MSF course teach us to do to get over it?
If you think you know the answer email me at and I will post the winner here.
UPDATE March 31-
Member Larry Meyers said MSF taught us
"to ride over the object put your weight on your foot pegs by raising
up off your seat slightly and accelerate just before hitting the object
to lighten the front end."
By accelerating right before the front end goes over the wood you are
taking a lot of weight off your front tire so it just skims over the
wood. I took this course with Larry many times and it is well
worth the $75 and they have us do this wood drill until we get it
right. You can also use this technique when approaching uneven
pavement (bridges, etc.).

Jan. and Feb. Rides
By Roy Hooper
The East Coast weather that we've had for the last 3
months has actually canceled our Jan. and Feb. rides. It looks
like our sunny weather will be back for our March ride so we can get
back to our normal status!
Ride For Kids
By Roy Hooper
May
6 is the Ride 4 Kids Brain Tumor Fundraiser in Torrance at the
Honda
HQs. We raised $11,205.00 in 2006 of which $5,000 was
matched by Cal Coast Motorsports owners Craig and Tracy Adams. Brain
tumors are INCREASING IN KIDS AND ADULTS-
this is not going away anytime soon. For those that choose to do
so,
let's see how much we can raise for the May 6 ride and since Lou
donated so much last year let's see how much we can raise without his
total being added to ours. Lou has put some Ride Kits on the
coffee
table at Cal Coast Motorsports so feel free to stop by there and pick
some up. In 2006 Lou raised $13,205.00. After you get
donations from your work, friends, family and
whatever else you can think of, just bring it to the May 6 ride so we
can put it under Cal Coast Riders and Cal Coast Motorsports. If
you
are not able to make the ride please contact me and I will pick up the
money and make sure you get credit for it. All checks can be made
out
to RIDE FOR KIDS. So far I've raised $600 and we will accept any
amount that they can afford. Let me know when you donate to RFK
so I
can give you a $20 Gift Card for
Cal Coast Motorsports to THANK YOU!
REMEMBER-
Craig and Tracy will match our total up to $5,000 so let's try to raise
this limit without Lou's donations for this worthy cause. Not many MC
shop owners match their Clubs donations so we are very fortunate to
have Craig and Tracy.
Let's make Craig & Tracy and Lou proud.

Wild Hog Movie
The latest MC movie has just come out and it's called Wild Hogs. Actor Mickey Jones
mentioned this to me last year and he said it will be a fun movie.
If you have seen this movie please write a couple of paragraphs
about it for our newsletter.
Thank you.
