As always our ride was extremely well
planned by our leader – Roy and Bill Muneio. The
weather cooperated
and we were not blown away by any strong winds.
On a suggestion by our Member
Jeff Olmstead this excursion was enriched by a visit to the
site of the 1966
controversial “Pink Lady”—the
secretly painted 60-foot-high image of a naked woman prancing above a
Malibu Canyon tunnel.
We had a nice lunch at the “Malibu
Seafood” restaurant that is located by the beach and were met
up with Lou's Sidecar
Club. We were able to smell the
beautiful ocean air and feel the warm sun on our faces while
eating. The food, as well as the company was good and
enjoyable. As we rode, we hugged the canyons with enthusiasm and at the
end we stopped at the “Bad Ass Café”
(excuse my language, but that is the name). At the
café we used the time to bond closer to our fellow riders
and took some nice photos.

February Ride
Kernville Ride
By Roy
The weather was cold and cloudy in the morning and even with 50 degree
temps 12 of our dedicated Members still showed up at all our pick up
points as we attempted to make our ride to Kernville. When we got to
The Rock Inn
in beautiful Lake Hughes the temps got colder and it started to
sprinkle. I took out my Blackberry to check the weather radar
image and saw that a storm cell was sitting between us and Kernville so
we decided to eat at the Rock Inn and just head back from there.
We will try for Kernville in March. Thanks to these tough
riders for showing up!

Sweet, Jerry Howard, Michael Hoover and his co-rider Anne , Marty Cohen, Bill

and Richard Gomes.

Fullface Helmet?
What do you want your helmet to
protect?
By Roy

You've
probably seen my buddy here on our
main
page encouraging you to wear a fullface helmet since those
protect your head
and
face. I have always worn a fullface since day one and will
swear by them.
On a recent ride a rider 2 bikes in front of me was in a mishap while
entering a left curve, fell hard off the left side and slid a couple of
feet. Luckily this person was able to walk away after about
20 minutes with only bruises. The rider had proper gear from head to
toe and if anything less than a fullface helmet was worn there would
have been major and painful face injuries.
Some of you already switched to a fullface helmet and I applaud your
decision. How can we get riders that are still wearing half
helmets and 3/4 helmets to make the switch before it's too late?
of the helmet below to see it in detail.
