From the Rider's Seat
By Roy Hooper
Men have long dominated the motorcycle scene and now the women are gradually moving from the rear seat to the rider's seat. I am very proud that our Club has SIX lady riders-
Wendy-SV650, Carla-FJR, France-FJR, Leah-CBR600, Tracy-Shadow, and Kelly-Shadow.  Welcome to this wonderful sport!  If you want to become even a better rider I would suggest at least 2 things- 1-ride as much as possible because you learn by doing it.  If possible ride with an experienced person who has the same type of bike as you (sport, cruiser, etc.) and watch how they maneuver. 2- take an Experienced Motorcycle Rider Course and learn under a controlled setting.  EMRC cost about $90 now and it is worth it.
Another option is to sign up for track day like Wendy has but the cost is in the hundreds so it's not feasible for everyone.
I also want to acknowledge our lady passengers who keep us company as well.  It feels great to share this hobby with the girls.

OVERNIGHTERS
We have 2 overnighters planned this year and if you are thinking about going it is a good idea to book your rooms now since you can always cancel later.  The first one is the Feast Of Lanterns in Pacific Grove on July 28,29,30.   We are staying at
Lover's Point Inn
625 Ocean View Boulevard
Pacific Grove
(866) 465-8192
and rates our about $109/night and we will be right on the beach.  THESE ROOMS WILL GO FAST.  This motel is 2 blocks from downtown and 1 mile form Cannery Row- a relaxing walk.  Book your rooms for July 28 and 29.

Our other overnighter is the 17th Annual Stater Bros. Route 66 Rendezvous in San Bernardino on Sept. 15-16.  Book your WigWam for Saturday night at
WigWam Motel
2728 W. Foothill Blvd.
Rialto, CA 92376-5333
(909) 875-3005

Visit our web site to get more detailed info on these rides and once you book your room for either of these rides please email me at  so I can add your name to our list.

THEN CAME BRONSON
In the previous newsletter I mentioned that I just bought the "Then Came Bronson" tv series on dvd for $29. I am half way through the 27 episodes series and of course I am enjoying it. It's pretty cool seeing some of the guest stars from that era and the situations that he gets into.  This DVD would make a great birthday gift for the special rider.

FREE LUNCH.
For our Members, here is your chance to win a FREE lunch on any Club ride you attend by being the first with the correct answer to this question.  You can win once a year.

In the series THEN CAME BRONSON what was Jim Bronson's occupation before he and his friend's Harley hit the road?

If you think you know the answer email me at  and I will post the winner here.
Previous 2007 winners-
John Duffant
Larry Meyers
UPDATED May 25-
Jeff Johnson wins with the answer
"He was a newspaper reporter".

April and May Rides
By Roy Hooper
We had 13 riders turnout for our Lake Isabella/Kernville ride.

Every year we have a good ride because of the nice backroads going into and out of the Kernville area.  Once we stop for lunch in Kernville there are many choices to pick from.

Our May ride to Jalama Beach was suggested by our Videographer Jeff Rotter.
We had 12 people ready to go at Carl's in Ventura and when we got to our Santa Barbara stop there were Harley Steve, Angelo and Steve Fritz ready to go too. Our longtime member  Darcy from Malibu finally got a free day to ride with us and showed up on his new Hayabusa, leading the group in the above photo.

Visit our photo gallery to view the photos and videos of our rides.
Video and photos taken by Jeff  Rotter- thanks Jeff.
Ride For Kids
By Roy Hooper
May 6 was the Ride 4 Kids Brain Tumor Fundraiser in Torrance at the Honda HQs and our Club donated $1800- 900 from  the Members and 900 from CalCoastMotorsports.com. CalCoastMotorsports.com donated $9,000+ to the RFK
Thanks to our Members who were able to donate-
Jerry Purdy
Eric Grabowski
Kelly
Bill Cobb
Larry Meyers
Tim Bates
Joe and Mariam Solis
Dave Culton
Dave Golden
Roy Hooper

If you have any suggestions on how we can raise some more money for next year please let me know.  Our donations are making a difference because these Kids are actually living longer. I've been going for 7 years now and each time there are more Kids that return, and that's a GOOD thing.
