Nov/Dec. 2008
From the Rider’s Seat
By Roy Hooper
We are having our Holiday Party at Suzana's in Canyon Country on
December 20th and I hope you can make
it.  We will meet at the Fillmore Burger King at 10:30 and depart at 11am.
Suzana says "Stay as long as you want". This is a potluck so please bring a dish.... any dish.  We will also stop at a market before we arrive so you can buy a dish and drinks.  And for those that want to play a game, we will play a gift exchange game called "Dirty Santa".  Just bring a wrapped gift under $10 and see who ends up with it. This will be our last event of the year so please jump on your bike and join us.
If it rains just jump in your car.
Please email Suzana and let her know you are coming and what you would like to bring.

Let's have fun today.

Our Ride Calendar for 2009 is
completed and I would like to thank
Suzana and also Bill Muneio for
their help, plus some others as well.
And we have two 3 day rides on the
Calendar- the first is in June which
is a ride to Mammoth, Yosemite and
Pacific Grove and the second is in
September to Big Bear.  Visit our
Ride Calendar  for more details and if
you plan on going you want to book
your rooms as soon as you can.

In addition to our monthly Club rides,
on Sept. 7 we went to the Guy Webster MC Museum in Ojai to check out Guy's
own collection.  We had a very good
turnout plus Lou met us their with his
Sidecar Club who rode many sidecars.
After the museum we rode to Boccali's
on the east of Ojai for lunch  and  their delicious strawberry shortcake!  Check it out at boccalis.com.
and check out Neil's photos of
the museum.

Group Riding Video
I have run across a video by MSF that demos how to group ride.  I would love everyone to view this so we can all be on the same page and it will explain why I do certain things on the rides.

Appreciation Day

Sept. 2008
By Carla
(Thanks to Carla for writing about
this event)

We, George and Linda Conahey,
Richard Sweet, George Crespo,
Joe Solis and Jeff Roe, all converged on Suzana’s between 12:00 and 12:30. The members came out of the heat into a cool and beautiful home and we were greeted with lots of hugs.
George Crespo was already at Suzana’s and had started a crankin bar b que out on the pool patio. There was a variety of food for everyone to enjoy and all of it was delicious! We ate and ate and talked about lots of interesting subjects ranging from sexual harassment in the workplace to different cultures and mindsets. Afterwards we relaxed in the living room and watched photos of club rides on the flat screen. Suzana introduced us to mademoiselle who
is a must see in her living room.
We all missed Roy and are hoping he’s feeling better soon. The atmosphere was not quite the same without him.
At the end there were lots of pictures taken outside by the pool.
There’s talk of a Holiday party and I would encourage club members to come, as Suzana and George put on an extravagant spread. We know they put in a lot of work and effort, and we’d like to send out a huge thank you. You guys rock!

Oct. Ride
Ports O Call
By Roy Hooper

This ride had to be rescheduled
because of strong winds and we
will do it in 2010.
Despite the winds we had another
great turnout with many women
riders again.  After getting suggestions
from the group it was decided to
take Potrero Road to Westlake and
then over to MB2Raceway in
Newbury Park which is a state of
the art indoor go kart track.
Then down the street to BMW Motorcycles for their open house
where some of our Members
stocked up on heated clothing.
By this time we were getting hungry
and of all the eateries that were
mentioned we went with Jeff Roe's
pick for Lamplighter Pizza and it
was good!
So another ride altered by Mother
Nature but our Members showed
their unity and came up with a
very pleasing "Plan B".  Thank you!.
