Okay Techies- here are instructions from Bill Muneio on how to make a
route on Google Maps and then convert that file into a KML extension
so you can download it onto your Zumo 550.  Thanks Bill.
Create your map using google map's "get directions".
After you have fine tuned your entire route and are happy
with it then you can go to the next step.
Click on Link (upper right corner of map) and copy the top link.
Then go to this website and paste the link in where it says
"enter the maps URL" then click "get it now".
Now copy the link this generates for you,
go to your Google maps page
my maps/ create new map / import from url / paste new url in and it's done
and viewable in Google Earth or can save as KML.
It's not nearly as difficult as it sounds really!
Heres a sample of what it will look like on everytrail where you can
get the KML file for your 550.
