Visual check with Ventura Beach Cam

3 members have renewed so far, thank you.
Membership renewal comes up every October and I am asking everyone to please not wait till the last
minute and beyond because it gives me extra work to do.  Renewal is still only $12 and you can pay me
on the next ride or pay online, whatever is easier for you.  You can go to our
Join/Renewal page and see the info there.  To see if you need to renew this year just go to our
Meet our Members and under your main photo is your renewal year.

Upcoming rides-
For August we will go to Pine Mountain Club for their annual car show then to Import Motorcycle Specialist in Valencia where our member Kim works and he invited us to their customer appreciation day.

In September we have 2 rides- the first to Ports O'Call Village in San Pedro and the second is the "Ride to the Flags" at Pepperdine.  Every September when you drive by Pepperdine you can see all the flags for all the people that died on 9-11, including kids and foreigners.  This ride starts at Pt. Mugu and goes through the SM Mountains ending at Pepperdine.
This is a great way to remember and honor the victims of the attack.

For October we will do the Lake Isabella/ Kernville ride that we almost completed last year and hopefully the Duffys will join us again.  Please check our Ride Calendar for more info on our rides.

Our Vice President Carla is  planning an eight day October ride covering some great roads and towns in Arizona and New Mexico.  Does this sounds like something you would want to do?  If so, contact her on our Facebook page or on our rides.
From Carla-
I really need to know who is interested in an Oct. trip to Carlsbad Caverns. To do a trip like this is a fair amount of work which I won't do unless I have some interest. So far 6 have expressed a verbal interest but I need to know if that's for real or not. This would be the first week of Oct. The temps look like they will range from the high 80's to low 70's However there are no guarantees. We could encounter rain. Oct. in my experience is the nicest month in AZ. THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE AN ADVENTURE if your looking for Disneyland this is not it!
We would go through Prescott, Jerome, Sedona and eastern AZ. then into N.M to Ruidoso, Roswell and Carlsbad. Also like to incorporate White Sands then back through Santa Fe, Flag and hit up Route 66 to Kingman.
Soooo those that want to shake it and then I will put it together.  Carla your VP.

August 10 SATURDAY-  Car Show and lunch at Pine Mountain Club.
Starting point- Ojai Full of Beans 11534 North Ventura Avenue.  Meet at 8 and depart at 9.
We will take Cerro Noroeste to PMC, after about 60 to 90 minutes of viewing the car show will head to Valencia where Kim Mancino's work is having customer appreciation day from 1 to 3.  They will also have some food so it is important to let me know that you are going so they will have enough food.
Visit Import Motorcycle Specialist.  Address- 25345 Avenue Stanford Unit 206, Valencia.
Mileage from Ojai to Valencia is 140 miles.

We had a great turnout for our ride to Fat Cat's Cafe in Avila.  We had 19 people and 4 of them road with us for their first time.
We truly enjoyed these 4 people and hope they liked us too.  Every time we go to Fat Cat we have a large group so I make reservations and they always take good care of us.  The food and service has always been great but please let me know if this is different from your experience.  Barry and Katarina took these photos-

Please check out the 2013 Ride Calendar and stop by our Classifieds page, send me any motorcycle related
items that you would like listed.

We have sold out of our $15 XL shirts again so I will put in a new order later this year just for
XLs since we still have the other sizes. If you want an XL shirt email me and let me know how
many you want and what color.   The Lightening Ridge in Ventura does our shirts and the minimum
order is 24 shirts so I need requests for at least 12 shirts.  So far I have an order for 4 shirts.

OUR 2010 Chapter Logo was designed by Bill Muneio.

Shirts are $15 and come in blue or black with our logo on the back.
Please let me know which size you would like so I can bring it on our ride.
2- Small
2- Medium
4- Large
7- Large
0- XL
6- XXL

During our 49 ride we found out that Richard Gomes had a non-Zumo Garmin GPS that he downloaded our 3 day routes to and it was less than $200.  So if you are looking for an alternative to the $600 + Zumos you might want to get the Garmin nuvi 755T (765T has Bluetooth).  You can make your own routes using Mapsource and download it to the nuvi.  You can also download our routes to it so you can see where we are going as your ride with us.  It is has the speed limit signs for most roads so you will know what the speed limit is and why I am doing the speed that I am doing. You can use this in any car as well. Click here for the nuvi 755T and here is the cradle to mount on your bike.  If you run across a better price on the nuvi please let me know so I can pass it on.  These items will not be around forever so don't hesitate.
Check out our Zumo page that has some routes made by Cal Coast Riders.

Looking for the best price on MC gear?  Get it at Cal Coast Motorsports!
Owner Craig Adams wants you to know "
our everyday pricing on Shoei helmets is
better than most online sites.  Also, we will match any online prices on equal terms
on current merchandise.  Simply print out the offer or bring it in on your phone.
We ask that everyone keep their business local and support the Cal Coast as we support them."
I have mentioned many times before how important it is to support Cal Coast Motorsports because
you will keep your money local, keep local employees employed and have Cal Coast Motorsports
here when you need them.  So this personal message from Craig should answer any questions you
have about price matching.

Did you know that some of our members have their own web site?
Just go to our main page, navigate to the left column and look under "Members' Sites".

Hopefully you will never need to call a tow truck for your bike but if you do we have some
options to add to your cell phone. The following info can always be found on our Towing page.
Paul's Cycle Rescue  in Ventura County.  Paul has a trailer made for MCs and he knows what he's doing.

A member suggested that if you break down far from home it might be cheaper to rent a u-haul truck
with a trailer and tow your bike to wherever you need to go instead of paying a towing company their
per mile rate.  I think this is a great suggestion and I hope I remember this if I am ever in that situation.

Thanks all.
