 CCR NEWS FROM THE PRESIDENT

One of the club's position has become available and that position is........  the president's spot.
I've had 11 fun years leading you guys to many places and I've thought about this the past 2 months but now it's time for someone different to be at the helm.  I will finish out the rest of 2014 and will help train the new person during 2014.  So if you ever thought about leading a group here's your chance to give it a shot.  If you are interested contact either me or Craig Adams at Cal Coast Motorsports.  If 2 or 3 of you want to get
together and try it that is fine too.  It is a volunteer postition and I really enjoyed sharing my motorcycle hobby with all of you.  If no one comes forward to take the president position then December would be the last ride for the club but let's not let it get to that.  I've built the club to this point so it's just a matter of continuing from where I left off.  You can continue the web site or build a new one, it's up to you.
Thanks to those of you that have helped me run the club be it in big ways or small parts.

On June 8th we are having our Member Appreciation BBQ at Ron Dumont's house and we need a count by May 28th of who is going so we can put in the food order.  This is open to all active members so come out for a short ride which will end at noon at Ron's house in Porter Ranch.  More info can be found below.

REMEMBER,  NO ALCOHOL DURING OUR RIDES UNTIL THE RIDE IS FINISHED.

May 10 SATURDAY- Rosie's BBQ in Chatsworth.  I LOVE THIS PLACE!   Muffins will be provided.
Meet at Ojai Full of Beans 11534 North Ventura Avenue at 8 and depart at 9.
150 to the Rincon, stop at Grant Park, country roads to Elephant Rock in Simi Valley, lunch at Rosie's, Fernwood Pacific Dr., the Rock Store lookout and then the finish at Agoura's Burger King for dessert.  Their dessert pies are high quality!
Thankfully Simi did not level this cool rock formation when they built the housing tract.

PLEASE EMAIL ME IF YOU'RE GOING ON THIS RIDE or post it on Facebook.

View route.  Download Zumo route.  6 hours including stops and 133 miles.

June 8 - MEMBER APPRECIATION BBQ PARTY.

Through membership renewals but mainly from our new monthly raffle for 2 Cal Coast Motorsports $25 gift cards we have enough money to have a free BBQ for our members as many of you have requested.  Ron Dumont has once again opened his house in Porter Ranch to us and Kim and Noel Mancino have again volunteered to order and pick up all the delicious food and drinks.  We will have non-meat foods as well.  If you are not a member yet it costs only $12 a year and all the info is on our Join/Renewal.

We do need someone to lead the ride since I will have to separate from the group at about 10:30 and help at the house.  This person can also make the route if they wish.  We would leave at 9 from any of our regular starting points and arrive at Ron's at 12.  Please let me know if you are interested.

This BBQ is possible because of you renewing with the club and to those that are able to participate in our monthly raffles.

PLEASE EMAIL ME IF YOU'RE GOING ON THIS RIDE so we can buy enough food or post it on Facebook.

Check our Ride Calendar for all the 2014 rides.

We had another good-sized crowd for our April ride to the poppies and then to Caveman's pizza in Frazier Park.

Cal Coast Motorsports owner Craig Adams said that "we will match any online prices on equal terms
on current merchandise.  Simply print out the offer or bring it in on your phone.
We ask that everyone keep their business local and support the Cal Coast as we support them."
I have mentioned many times before how important it is to support Cal Coast Motorsports because
you will keep your money local, keep local employees employed and have Cal Coast Motorsports
here when you need them.  So this personal message from Craig should answer any questions you
have about price matching.

Next time you are in Cal Coast you might want to check out their CLEARANCE section which is at the
end of the chemical aisle.  There is a clothing rack and also some helmets against the wall.  They have some
good deals there.

 CLUB SHIRTS
Our order of shirts came in last week and we still have some XLs left.  If you want one just go to our shirt page for the info.

 AN AFFORDABLE GPS
During our 49 ride we found out that Richard Gomes had a non-Zumo Garmin GPS that he downloaded our 3 day routes to and it was less than $200.  So if you are looking for an alternative to the $600 + Zumos you might want to get the Garmin nuvi 755T (765T has Bluetooth).  You can make your own routes using Mapsource and download it to the nuvi.  You can also download our routes to it so you can see where we are going as your ride with us.  It is has the speed limit signs for most roads so you will know what the speed limit is and why I am doing the speed that I am doing. You can use this in any car as well. Click here for the nuvi 755T and here is the cradle to mount on your bike.  If you run across a better price on the nuvi please let me know so I can pass it on.  These items will not be around forever so don't hesitate.
Check out our Zumo page that has some routes made by Cal Coast Riders.
Update 2014- Ron and Kim also have this GPS now.

 MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS
Looking for the best price on MC gear?  Get it at Cal Coast Motorsports!
Owner Craig Adams wants you to know "
our everyday pricing on Shoei helmets is
better than most online sites.  Also, we will match any online prices on equal terms
on current merchandise.  Simply print out the offer or bring it in on your phone.
We ask that everyone keep their business local and support the Cal Coast as we support them."

Did you know that some of our members have their own web site?
Just go to our main page, navigate to the left column and look under "Members' Sites".

 TOWING OPTIONS
Hopefully you will never need to call a tow truck for your bike but if you do we have some
options to add to your cell phone. The following info can always be found on our Towing page.
Paul's Cycle Rescue  in Ventura County.  Paul has a trailer made for MCs and he knows what he's doing.

A member suggested that if you break down far from home it might be cheaper to rent a u-haul truck
with a trailer and tow your bike to wherever you need to go instead of paying a towing company their
per mile rate.  I think this is a great suggestion and I hope I remember this if I am ever in that situation.
